IrsiCaixa will sign a collaboration agreement with IRTA to study emerging zoonotic diseases

On Tuesday October 20, the director of the IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute, Bonaventura Clotet, visited the IRTA's Centre for Research in Animal Health (CReSA) to formalise a collaboration agreement between the two institutions within the framework of the study of emerging zoonotic diseases.

For the last few months, the two institutes have been working together in a consortium to develop therapies and vaccines to treat and prevent COVID-19, together with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS). The aim of this agreement will be to continue this collaboration in order to work on future diseases of animal origin with an impact on public health that may emerge.

The current pandemic has made it clear that sustained cooperation between human and veterinary medical research is necessary and desirable, highlighting the importance of the One Health concept.
