Biography

Marc Noguera i Julian graduated with degrees in Chemistry (2000) and subsequently in Biochemistry (2002) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). For his PhD in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, awarded in 2006 by the UAB, he completed a thesis on molecular modelling of proton transfers in DNA base pairs.  Between 2000 and 2009, he worked in systems engineering for scientific calculation purposes as a systems administrator, complementing this professional experience with a technical engineering degree in information systems, awarded by the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) in 2011.

In charge of bioinformatics for the genome platform of the Institute for Predictive and Personalized Medicine in Cancer (IMPPC) from 2009 to 2010. He has been working in IrsiCaixa since 2011, focusing on the interface between science and computation. His experience of molecular modelling, genomics, high-performance computing, drug discovery and DNA sequence data analysis contributes to the development of informatics aimed at exploring the potential of science and technology to advance biomedical research into HIV and the human microbiome.
